Bolivian Red Cross was admitted to the IFRC in 1923. In 2015, it counted 253 active volunteers (. 600 in 2010), of which 47% were male and 53% female.

The IFRC, through its regional Zika operation, visited Bolivia from 30 May – 5 June, to assess their progress in implementing their response plan with the Bolivian Red Cross.

Earlier this year, Bolivia suffered its worst floods in over 20 years. In the southern Tupiza Department, three days of heavy rain caused the San Juan del Oro and Tupiza rivers to rise up and burst their banks.
