Geneva, 2 February 2018 – The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) confirms that it is one of a number of non-profit organizations owed money by the online donation provider, Ammado AG.

IFRC is deeply disturbed that online donations collected by Ammado to support humanitarian efforts have not reached those intended.

Ammado AG has failed to pay approximately 1.8 million Swiss francs donated via its platform to IFRC and to a number of National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies around the world.

In April 2017, IFRC suspended its use of Ammado and advised its member National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies using the platform to suspend their accounts.

In September 2017, following repeated unsuccessful efforts to secure the funds owed to it by Ammado AG, IFRC filed a criminal complaint against Ammado AG with the Swiss authorities. This complaint triggered an investigation that is currently underway.

IFRC will be cooperating fully with authorities to recover outstanding funds and ensure that the missing funds ultimately reach the vulnerable people intended.
