On 29 January 2017, a Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) ambulance was involved in an accident in Sweida, southern Syria, due to snow and ice on the road. With sadness, we confirm that two volunteers, Mazen Waleed Akl and Tareq Hisham Radwan, were killed. Some of their fellow volunteers were injured.
The SARC team were en route to an emergency response to provide first aid at a road accident that occurred in the early hours of the morning, due to the treacherous weather conditions.
