Ninety-one people have been killed and more than 4,100 people have been affected by the worst wildfires to hit Greece in 100 years. The Hellenic Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) ask for your support to help the traumatised survivors.

The wildfires that ripped through the Attica region of Greece in late July were a worst-case scenario due to the high-density forest in the area, strong winds, and high temperatures.

This appeal – for 2 million Swiss francs – will enable the Hellenic Red Cross and IFRC to support 7,100 of the most vulnerable survivors for nine months. The operation will include support in health, livelihoods, protection and disaster risk reduction, community engagement and accountability, and National Society development.
