Youth and volunteers continue to play a crucial role in the development of a National Society and contribute immensely in the attainment and promotion of the IFRC Youth Engagement Strategy. Thus, building their capacities and engaging them on a meaningful dialogue is of paramount importance.
In cognisance of the above, the Gambia Red Cross Society implemented its 10th International biennial capacity building camp called the “Bantaba” meaning Platform from the 26th July to 4th August 2018. The Bantaba brought together 368 young people from all over the Country and other sister National Societies both within and outside Africa for a period of 10 days. The 10th International Youth Bantaba theme was “Changing Minds Changing Lives” which put emphasis on the IFRC Youth Engagement Strategic (YES), irregular migration and entrepreneurship. The event challenged the young people of the Gambia Red Cross Society to lead the promotion of the Youth Engagement Strategy (YES) and the changing mind and changing lives campaign.
