Philippines: measles outbreak
An outbreak of measles was declared on 6 February in the National Capital and Central Luzon Regions. By 2 March, nearly 16,350 people had been infected, 261 people had died, and the disease had spread to several other regions. Babies and children are particularly vulnerable to infection.
The Philippines Red Cross and IFRC want to help 260,000 of the most vulnerable people in need and at risk, by supporting overwhelmed health facilities in the affected areas, and conducting community awareness work to prevent more people from catching the disease.
The Philippines Red Cross is responding to a deadly outbreak of measles that has killed more than 260 people, most of them children aged under five. We need your help to support the people affected and stop the spread of the disease.
