Annual Report 2019
We live in a world of aching humanitarian need. Behind every statistic, there is a human being and his or her story. We meet these people at their point of need, and our work is needed more than ever.
2019 was a year of extremes. We celebrated 100 years since the founding of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), at a time when humanitarian needs have never been greater. Throughout 2019, the world faced interconnected and compounding emergencies, driven mostly by extreme climate related disasters and conflict, that resulted in highest number of internally displaced people on record.
This Annual Report pays tribute to the Red Cross and Red Crescent volunteers for their tireless efforts and sacrifice in responding to the needs of vulnerable people in multiple humanitarian contexts around the world. It details our work to protect the dignity and right to essential services of vulnerable people through four strategies for implementation and seven areas of focus.
