Since torrential rain caused flash floods in Sistan and Baluchistan province in southeastern Iran during January 10-12, teams of Iranian Red Crescent have been on the ground helping those affected.

So far, the Red Crescent has supported more than 90 000 people from over 900 flood-affected cities and villages.

Around 2000 Red Crescent relief workers have been responding on several fronts: helping people to evacuate; rescuing people from river floods; providing first aid and transporting people to medical facilities; draining flood water from houses; providing emergency shelters; and distributing food, water, blankets, lamps and other relief items.

Thousands of families are currently staying in emergency sheltering camps. The Iranian Red Crescent continues to support the affected communities and to facilitate their recovery.
