The Kenya Red Cross Society and IFRC are responding to disastrous flooding across Kenya and need your help to support 150,000 of the most vulnerable people who have been displaced from their homes.

Torrential rains have caused devastating floods across 15 counties, killing 72 people and forcing 211,155 people to leave their homes. The affected regions are Western, Nyanza, North Rift, South Rift, North Eastern, Upper Eastern, Central and Coast.

The destruction is immense – entire farms are under water, crops have been ruined, and vital irrigation systems have been swept away. The flooding has also destroyed health clinics, sanitation services, and roads and transport links.

People are in desperate need of food, shelter and relief items, and are at risk of water-borne diseases such as cholera. Many were already suffering from food insecurity caused by drought. All will need humanitarian support to help them to recover and rebuild their resilience.

We plan to provide assistance in shelter and settlements, health and nutrition, water and sanitation, livelihoods, food security, and gender, protection and inclusion for six months, and are appealing for 4,746,755 Swiss francs.
