Mexican Red Cross sent on Wednesday 35 rescuers to support the humanitarian work of American Red Cross in Houston, Texas, in response to the flooding after Hurricane Harvey.
According to the collaboration agreement between the two National Societies, the American Red Cross requested the support of the Mexican Red Cross to serve the Latino and American population in the shelters.
The group of rescuers who will attend are 14 women and 21 men, all of them are Medical Emergency Technicians, specialists in disasters, humanitarian aid distribution logistics, shelter support and damage assessment.
The group of rescuers will stay from August 30 to September 18 and will collaborate with the American Red Cross, working on food distribution, health care for people in the city of Houston, Texas.
With these actions the institution continues to fulfill the mission of providing efficient care to the population in cases of emergency and in disaster situations, even supporting other National Societies as part of the solidarity and unity that exists between the International Movement of the Cross Red and Red Crescent, with the aim of alleviating people’s suffering.
