Since 12 August, heavy monsoon rains have devastated the riverine region of India, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. As a result, Bangladesh’s major river networks have overflowed, causing intense flooding in more than half of the country and affecting 7.4 million people. This is the fourth major flood in Bangladesh this year, and people are in desperate need of support. The Bangladesh Red Crescent and IFRC response will provide 100,000 of the most vulnerable survivors with support in health, shelter, relief items, water, sanitation and hygiene, food security, and livelihoods.
